Clubs and Societies

Sling & District Recreation Club is open every evening (except Mondays) and Sunday lunchtimes. The Club is a popular meeting place with a bar and meals available. Mens and womens Skittles and Darts teams, a Pool team, and of course Sling United football team are based there. Bream Gardening Society has many members in our villages. It arranges meetings, outings and two annual shows.

Forest of Dean Allotments Association works to make more allotments available.

West Gloucestershire Art Society has drop-in art sessions on Fiday mornings at the West Dean Centre in Bream and arranges exhibitions of members work.

Forest Folk Club has sessions at the Royal Oak, Whitecroft, on the first and third Sunday of each month.

Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir is very active and very popular too.

Royal Forest of Dean Orchestra comprises amateur musicians from all parts of the county as well as the Forest of Dean and South Wales, and welcomes new members.

Traditional dancing is well catered for by the Forest of Dean Morris Men and Wimberry Step Clog

The Forest has an active community of brass and silver bands. Forest of Dean Brass and Bream Silver Band are just two.

Forest of Dean Ramblers are part of the Ramblers Association and have a busy programme of walks in and around the Forest.

Forest of Dean U3A (University of the Third Age) has morning and afternoon interest groups and arranges monthly meetings.

Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club has a gym at Five Acres.

Forest of Dean Camera Club meet at Viney St Swithins Sports and Social club on Monday evenings from September to April, and monthly during the summer months at the Rising Sun in Moseley Green, Parkend.

Forest of Dean Angling Club leases waters from Forest Enterprise and has several lakes throughout the area.

Forest of Dean Beekeepers are an active group encouraging beekeeping in the Forest.

Royal Forest of Dean Caving Club has a mainly local membership of people with an interest in caves and mines.
